Is God Stirring Up His ‘Nest’?

I have a question for you! Have you ever contemplated that what if the mother eagle never stirred up the nest? Would the eaglets on their own venture out to learn how to fly? I doubt it! What say you?

When I was a little girl, my four siblings and I had to attend church all day on Sundays. We started with Sunday School. Regular church services followed. We then took a quick trek home for dinner. After that, we went back to church for evening BTU services. Can you imagine that my Sundays today, as a senior citizen, are almost a mirror of the past? It’s just like it was so long ago.

To be truthful, I doubt very seriously. If Mother and Father had not stirred up my nest during those formative years, today, I would be lost. The beauty of this recollection for me is just how many eagle references there are in the Holy Bible. When I think about yesterday’s strict church attendance, which was forced on us kids, I can also recall several sermon titles: “The Eagle Stirs Her Nest”. Eagle preaching was very popular when I was a kid.

As I grew older, politics also became a part of my life’s interests. And I began to equate certain facets of life with the Bible’s predictions and revelations. So, in today’s world and political happenings, I asked myself…are we embarking upon the end times? Is God stirring up the nest (earth) to empower the ‘siblings’ to break forth and draw all men unto Him (Jesus Christ). (The Book of Revelation is full of references to the eagle.)

Listed below are some facts I researched about the mighty eagle. An eagle’s sight range is from 1-1/2 to 2 miles. Or they can see 3 to 4 times farther than a human. Their wing span can be up to 8 feet. Usually eagles have one mate for life. A nests weigh’s a ton. They shed feathers and claws like humans shed hair and finger nails.

There are several lessons we can learn from the mighty eagle. Uncomfortable situations are often used to teach us just how to soar. Sometimes the Holy Spirit provides the necessary changes in our lives to cause us to grow and mature in Him. Do not be afraid to spread your wings and fly with the Almighty Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Scripture Lesson: He watches over his nest like an eagle. He hovers over his young. He spreads his wings, catches him, and carries him on his feathers.

I love the eagle imagery. I also remember sermons and stories about eagles. One story described an eaglet raised with chickens then discovering its true identity. It motivated us to strive to achieve our best. God uses his eagles to teach us strength and dependance at the same time. Bless you for stirring the nest of our memories.

  2. What a beautiful response to this blog post about eagles. Let’s keep our eye on life’s road ahead for 2025. Allow ‘eagle’ scriptures to guide us. Remember, they are equipped to see 1 to 2 miles beyond our sight. Plus their wing span is far longer. So whenever you find yourself in a tight spot, just stretch out your arms, lower your head and soar. God will do the rest.
