As my readers know from ‘following’ this blog post, it is my plan to publish a new blog every Friday. It will be refreshing. So, what I did was to research my writing submissions to various organizations in my formative years. To my surprise, I ran across an article entitled, “An Apple A Day (In Liquid Form) Keeps The Doctor Away“.
I reread my article several times to decide if it was applicable for this format. Since the information was promoting health advantages, I quickly engaged the Holy Spirit. I asked Him if the Bible had anything to say about vinegar. A flood gate opened and I saw Jesus suffering on the cross.
As Jesus’ crucifixion unfolds, His pain and agony caused Him to declare, “I am thirsty”. So the soldiers soaked a sponge in a jar of wine vinegar and put it to Jesus’ lips. Mistakenly, I thought this gesture caused the enemy soldiers to mock Him. Therefore, I did some research. In Jesus’ day, several blends of wine were homemade and wine vinegar was used as an assuage(*) medicinal. The soldiers’ gesture was actually helping to mitigate some of Jesus’ pain. (Jesus ‘Rocked’ my boat by enlightening me as to the real motive of those enemy soldiers on Jesus’ behalf.)
I invite you to take a moment. Please read my essay about the benefits of applying 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water.

"An Apple A Day (In Liquid Form) Keeps The Doctor Away"
Did you know that consuming a glass of water with two teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar helps your kidneys? It also benefits your bladder. This mixture supports their vital work of removing waste from the body. So, if you must eat a lot of protein, consider drinking apple cider vinegar along with each meal. This will help you keep good health and keep you out of doctor's offices.
Another important use of this liquid concoction is that when taken regularly, it can cause you to lose weight. Forget Atkins and all other diet fads. It takes you a little longer to shed those unwanted pounds. But, once you lose them, research has shown that the weight will stay off. Try this two-one-two formulae. Drink two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water with each meal every day. See if you don't lose at least one inch from your fat waist by the end of two months. Continue on this plan and watch that inner tube drop off during the ensuing months.
In today's busy world, full of stresses and gadgets that consume our attention, we often stay up too late. This includes distractions like cable and the internet. As a result, many of us do not get the eight hours of uninterrupted sleep we need. Chronic fatigue pledges 50 million Americans according to a recent Cornell University study.
A simple solution to this fatigue problem is to put apple cider vinegar in your bath water. Just add a half pint of it to a full tub of water. Immerse yourself in it for 15 minutes. Your skin will absorb some of the vinegar and potassium in it and pep you up. You can use less soap on your body, too, because the bath solution acts as an astringent. Finally when stepping out of the tub, allow your body to air dry. Do not use a towel. You should briskly apply body lotion by hand. Rub your shoulders, arms, armpits, chest, stomach, neck, face, and lower extremities vigorously. This self-administered body massage will further invigorate you and you will find it quite refreshing.
My last bit of nostalgia for using apple cider vinegar is to alleviate headaches. Physicians believe that when our bodies have too much alkaline in the body migraines can occur. As stated earlier, taking apple cider vinegar helps to eliminate toxins and restores the body back to its natural acidity. Thus causing the headache to disappear. By the way, to make this smelly potion easier to swallow, just add two teaspoons of honey to each glass. Enjoy an extra health benefit from Mother Nature.
(*) NOTE: The word "assuage" is a verb that primarily means to make an unpleasant feeling less intense or to relieve someone's distress.

Thanks for the enlightening column on the benefits of vinegar. I will have to see if it helps me to get rid of my midriff.

Have no fear Sister Wilkins. Be sure to measure your waistline unencumbered with clothing. But what I want to know is, did you believe that the soldier’s actions were going to be helpful or harmful to satisfy our Lord’s discomfort? (It was news to me that the soldier’s action was helpful. I’ve ask the Holy Spirit to forgive me.
