I just love to ask God questions and await his response. Well, this evening I didn’t have to wait long. I picked up one of my favorite devotional books and glanced at a devotional on how to know when you are standing on God’s Holy Ground. Within the message was a sentence that said we would be able to identify the holy ground moment at the precise time we sensed that God’s presence in our midst is tangible.
What does that mean, I thought? So, I reached for my dictionary. Webster defined tangible as being capable of being perceived by the sense of touch. And also capable of being precisely identified or realized by the mind. Now I was even more confused. Who on earth has ever touched God? Okay…maybe the women who touch the hem of Jesus’ garment…Maybe that counts.
Just then, I heard from on High…
He (God) says, “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10 |
Right then and there I received a fresh anointing! My mind began to recall Holy Scriptures I had learned as a child…The Holy Spirit entered the picture and defined “tangible” for me.

As I bent down to unlace and remove my tennis shoes, I was capable of perceiving a touch from the Master’s hand. I also precisely realized in my mind that God was a-listening! Yes, Jesus Christ, Himself was present and the ground was indeed holy.
Oh, my brothers and sister, my prayer for you is that when such a moment happens in your lives, you, too, will realize with assurance that God is with you. That you will waste no time in removing your shoes, falling on your knees and acknowledge your fresh anointing. Do this before you continue in your prayer time. Take a few moments to just praise His holy Name and thank Him for being a God Who never fails to listen to His children.
May you forever see the glory and wisdom of cultivating a heart-felt intimacy with our Lord and Savior in today’s chaotic world. May God continue to bless the growing pains that this pandemic is instilling in the people of God.
